Hoppy Holidays from the brewers

National Beer Wholesalers Assn, Alexandria VA, and the Brewers Assn, Boulder CO, were hosts of the "Taste of the Holidays" at the Rayburn Building on Capitol Hill. Representatives from 28 craft breweries distributed samples to 600 guests and lawmakers. Fare on hand included stouts, lagers, ales, wheat beers, lambics and seasonal brews.

NBWA's mission includes the preservation and a distribution system that provides an "accountable and transparent chain of custody" for beer sales. The assns also promote responsible consumption, and prevention of underage drinking and alcohol abuse.

Rather and Garrison in graduation day...

Dec. 10 - Journalist Dan Rather and actor Lane Garrison will take part in “Graduation Day,” a 30-minute film on the dangers of teen drinking and driving produced by the Pack Foundation, Danville CA. Rather will narrate and also act as host, asking questions of the actors as the film progresses. Garrison, who was a cast member of the Fox TV show "Prison Break," gives a testimonial at the end about the evils of drinking and driving. He recently was sentenced for his role in the Los Angeles crash that claimed the life of a young passenger. View a three-minute trailer of "Graduation Day" on YouTube. Bob and Carmen Pack started the foundation after their two children were killed in 2003 by an impaired driver who ran off the road while the children were walking to get ice cream.
